Pre-Wedding in Cabinteely Park

Out shooting in Cabinteely Park with Elaine + Michael in a fab day of September 2018.

The park is situated on land which surrounds Cabinteely House. The house was in private ownership from when it was built in the 1760s until 1984.

The house and the surrounding park are now in the ownership of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council who have invested in restoring and maintaining Cabinteely House. Much of the funding for the upkeep comes from the temporary letting out of the house for use as a film or TV set. Cabinteely House has ‘starred’ in Albert Nobbs, The General, and in many TV programmes.

Also, there's a lovely place to stop for a yummy coffee with an outdoor mini Japanese garden.

Fionnuala + Paul - Mount Druid alternative Wedding

Fionnuala and Paul, I would like to say thank you for trusting me to capture these memories for you guys; also to the staff and management at Mount Druid for being awesome and looking after me!

I have shot a few weddings at Mount Druid Alternative Wedding and every time I'm excited to be back ‘cos this is where I got married myself in April 2018. I really love this boutique camping site and would say to anyone thinking of getting married there, then don't "think about it", just do it!! I know they are get booked up so fast. It's such an awesome place to get married and you will have an extra guest, their dog, Piddles, who will follow you around on your wedding day.

If any couple need a photographer to capture their Mount Druid Wedding, please do drop me an email, and I will be delighted to go back to the amazing Mount Druid.

Jeannette + Niall - Cloughjordan House, Co Tipperary

Cloughjordan wedding

Jeannette + Niall got married in the awesome 800 years old manor, Cloughjordan House, Co Tipperary. A truly beautiful venue with a number of beautiful spaces to accommodate a wedding ceremony; from the 17th-century ballroom to the main lawn, woodshed or forest area.  Jeanette and Niall opted for the cosy Woodshed.

It was a wonderfully personal ceremony, where Niall played some music while Jeannette walks down the aisle. It was truly beautiful to see the massive smile on Jeannette’s face as she made her way down the aisle and waited for Niall to finish his song before they share a pre-wedding kiss!

For me as a photographer it’s one of my fav venues, I always feel really welcome at this venue. The staff and manager are really awesome people. Looking forward to being back to shoot some more weddings there. Also, I always wanted to stay there for the weekends with my family (someday I will)

Thank you to Carol Sweeney Photography, who helped me out on the day as a second shooter.

She Moved Through The Fair

My young love said to me,
My mother won’t mind
And my father won’t slight you
For your lack of kine.
And she laid her hand on me
And this she did say:
It will not be long, Love,
Till our wedding day.

As she stepped away from me
And she moved through the fair
And fondly I watched her
Move here and move there.
And then she made her way homeward,
With one star awake,
As the swan in the evening
Moved over the lake.

The people were saying,
No two e’er were wed
But one had a sorrow
That never was said.
And I smiled as she passed
With her goods and her gear,
And that was the last
That I saw of my dear.

Sharon + Rob – Barberstown Castle

Sharon and Rob got married in Barberstown Castle in Kildare.

This lovely couple met when they were teenagers, they were together for a long time; it was nine years of getting to know each other before they and got engaged.

They had talked about marriage a good bit before they got engaged. They are both straightforward in the way they do things and their engagement was no different. It was just the way they wanted it. They were in Kilashee House Hotel at an event and while dancing on the dance floor they were joking about it...... then Rob then asked Sharon and of course she said 'Yes!' It was perfect. They then went to Dublin for the day to pick Sharon engagement ring!

Married life is a true blessing and one of life's finest gifts. Congratulations guys and best wishes for the future!

A lovely message from the couple:

"Johnny was our photographer for our wedding in July 2018. Not only is he an extremely talented photographer but he is so professional and such a lovely guy! We wouldn't be the best at getting our photo taken but he made us feel so comfortable and at ease. All of our family and friends commented on how friendly and professional he was throughout the day! His style of photography is amazing and he captured our day perfectly! We are so in love with all of our photos I honestly wouldn't be able to choose between them.

Johnny, we can't thank you enough for our amazing photos! Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a photographer!!

Zara +Ger at the Ballymagarvey Village Wedding

I always love shooting at the Ballymagarvey Village in Co. Meath. It's one of my favourite venues, with amazing grounds. I love it when I have loads of options on a wedding shoot. Thank you, Zara and Ger for having me as part of your celebrations.

I can't wait to go back there again.

A lovely message from the couple:

"Johnny was the most amazingly Talented photographer to capture Love, Fun and family on our  Wedding day.
I was really particular that I didn’t want the photographs to take over my day, and Johnny completely nailed this. It never felt forced or that I was missing out on anything because Johnny captured everything wherever we found ourselves, chatting with friends or dancing the night away. I would recommend Johnny to any bride to be, he will give you the pictures you always wanted. Also, he is the nicest guy and a pleasure to have with you on your big day. Thank you, Johnny. What an awesome eloping at the Muckish Mountain Donegal with Rachel and David

Do you want to eloping surrounded by some awesome views in Donegal, Ireland?

Well, I think you can but I understand it can be hard to get people on board so I decided to do a hiking elopement shoot to showcase what's possible. My relaxed, natural photography style really works for this eloping type and I have added a new "Hiking Eloping in Ireland" package to my options. This is for anywhere in Ireland, not just beautiful, wild, Donegal.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Rachel and David for giving up their time for this photoshoot. I'm so happy they LOVE the pictures as I got really lovely feedback from them:

"Having our photos taken by Johnny was an absolute BLAST!!! He is so adventurous and went hiking with us through the hills & mountains of Donegal and got the most incredible, scenic shots! He really has such an eye for the lighting and scenery around you. His talent and creativity are unparalleled. But more-so than that, he really makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera (even if one of you is extremely photophobic).

We were genuinely having the best time waltzing through the fields with Johnny. He is the nicest, up for anything kind of guy. He really captured raw emotion and love between us and made it so effortless on our part. It was the best experience with him as our photographer and we will definitely be using him for future life celebrations! if you're looking for professional, relaxed, un-posed & natural photos, Johnny is your man! Thank you, Johnny, for a wonderful day and beautiful photos!! ♡R&D"

Traditionally elopements are where the couple run off and get married in secret before returning home. Friends and family are disappointed to have missed out on the big day… Elopements today are completely different! Imagine wild moors, dense woodlands, sweeping vistas. Breezy mountaintops, muddy boots, wildflowers. Your absolute fave people, an officiant, AND YOU TWO.

You don’t have to do it completely alone – having 10 or 20 of your people attend is still a lot easier and more enjoyable than herding 100 people around. So if the thought of making small talk with distant relatives and plus ones and doing the first dance in front of 100 people brings you out in a cold sweat and has you running for the hills – then why not actually just run for the hills? And bring me to you…

I offer an Elopement package that includes:

   • eloping to anywhere in Ireland
   • A knowledgeable planning buddy (me!)
   • Photos via downloadable online gallery
   • Elopement package prices range from €1000 to €2500

Loughcrew Loughcrew wedding ireland elopement

Julia & Donovan got eloping at the ruins Loughcrew Wedding

Julia & Donovan got eloping at the ruins of Loughcrew Wedding

Julia and Donovan came to Ireland to get elope from Pennsylvania, USA. Loughcrew Wedding is a stunning location for any wedding, but for the privacy of an elopement, it is just perfection. Elopement is very special and I love being able to capture the emotion, often in amazing locations, like on the cliff, beach or as in this case, church ruins.

A lovely message from the couple:

"My husband and I were introduced to Johnny and his work through our wedding planner (Yvonne Cassidy). We are from the United States and decided we wanted to elope in Ireland. We were completely nervous about finding the right photographer for our ceremony.

Once we saw Johnny’s work it spoke for itself. His photos were stunning, relaxed, candid, and the exact style we were looking for. When we first emailed him, he answered us right away and told us about the different packages he offered. We chose to do his pdf package, it fit our budget perfectly.

The day of our ceremony was the first time we met and instantly he made us both feel comfortable. I never imagined having so much fun taking these photos. He captured intimate shots as well as relaxed funnier ones that matched our personalities.  It started raining towards the end of the ceremony and he was willing to endure the rain and take some of the most amazing photos for us.

Not long after our ceremony Johnny emailed us a link to our files. The photos were so easy to access and download. On top of that, they were beautifully done and captured our day perfectly! We could not be more thankful for him.

We would recommend Johnny to anyone!"

IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields.
and until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children’s children

May you be poor in misfortune,
rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
and may the hand of a friend always be near

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

As a tattoo artist Donovan has high standards when it comes to body art....and love is...letting Julia perform her first tattoo of a carrot on your leg. :) Although the story behind this little tattoo is lovely. In Julia's own words..."When Donovan and I first started dating we got into a small argument (I’m not even sure what it was about anymore) and he drew me a picture of a rabbit holding a carrot that said: “I’m sorry I made you mad, you can have my carrot.” So for a few years after that, we joked and said one of us should get a rabbit and the other a carrot tattooed. Well, I just so happened to get a rabbit tattooed on my leg by a different artist. So I told Donovan he had to now get a carrot, which we decided should be done by me! It was the first and last tattoo I will ever do haha. But that little carrot has so much meaning to us. It makes us realize that even if we don’t always see eye to eye about things, we still love each other." So sweet Julia and Donovan!!.

P.S. I Love you bridge & Dunbur - Wicklow Pre-Wedding Shoot

Gloria and Kevin travelled all the way from Hong Kong to Ireland for their Love Shoot with some beautiful Irish mountains.

I had a fantastic day out with a wonderful couple, shooting some relaxed pre-wedding portraits. there is nothing like the Irish countryside when the weather is right! We took advantage of the great weather and went to 2 beautiful areas: P.S. I Love You and right beside Lough Tay (knowing as the Guinness Lake - Those are well know for a Viking Filming) and Wicklow Head Lighthouse in Dunbur, Co.Wicklow. Gloria and Kevin travelled all the way from Hong Kong to Ireland and I had such great fun shooting with them. I love shooting outdoors and getting close to nature. Hope you the results .... Enjoy!

If you've watched PS I Love You, you'll be familiar with the beautiful scenery in Ireland that was used in the film. Picture the scene as the cameras roll. A girl and a guy stroll through a rolling moorland of the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland, strewn with purple heather, with a stream flowing under a history-filled stone bridge. They meet later over a pint of Guinness in a traditional Irish pub, among the craic and laughter, and he sings her Galway Girl and sweeps her off her feet.

Château de Marsalès, Monpazier, France - Emma and Mark

A FAB WEDDING IN MONPAZIER SOUTH OF FRANCE

When Emma and Mark first got in touch with me about their wedding in South of France wedding in Château de Marsalès, Monpazier, I was so excited – they were planning the most relaxed and romantic wedding with a religious ceremony, a live band as many beers as you like. Emma and Mark seemed like the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

The excitement before the wedding

I turned up at Château de Marsalès, where the couple was getting ready, and it was so chilled out because everyone was in a good mood. Emma wore Maison Edith Bréhat and Mark wore a Devred suit and they looked so incredible. They had their first look right beside the House under beautiful trees.

The ceremony

The wedding took place at Église Saint Dominique in Monpazier, and was both joyous and moving. They had simple and classy decoration and flowers, which suited the magnificent church dating from the middle ages. After the ceremony, a family friend from Brittany played traditional music as the couple left the church, and then everybody gathered in the main square to welcome the newlyweds.

The reception

The wedding reception took place at Château de Marsalès, which is a short distance from Monpazier. The Château, built in the 15thcentury, was recently restored and sits on a property of 80 hectares which includes a stud farm for pure Arabian horses.

It was a slightly overcast day, which added to the atmosphere of the venue and resulted in great light for photos and videos. While the guests discovered the interior of the château, they tasted local specialities such as foie gras, duck and sweet white wine. My favourite photo from the day is the shot of the couple in the courtyard of the property after the first look ...)

During the reception, the couple were spoiled with touching and funny speeches, songs, and even surprise Irish and Breton music which was learned especially for the day from Emma’s father, his friend and brothers. After dinner, it was on to the dancefloor where Emma and Mark opened the ball, and then Phil Good entertained in Style with a mixture of soul, funk and rock.

The couple

Emma and Mark met when they were 16 years old during a school exchange, and they never forgot each other and get back together 8 years ago They say if you’re planning a wedding, take your time, make sure the people you love are present and involved, and enjoy it!

YOUR KIND WORDS

"We don’t have enough words to thank you, Johnny!  The photos of our wedding are far more beautiful than anything we could have imagined in our wildest dreams!

Thank you for your dedication, your good humour, your smile and the ease with which you adapted with our families. You made the most beautiful day of our lives, even more sublime! You captured the moments, the emotions, the atmosphere of the venue and you were able to show who we really are!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for being more than a photographer!

Love!

Emma & Mark"

Vaughan's Pub, County Clare - Shayne and Sean

RELAXED WEDDING IN VAUGHAN'S PUB AND O'LOCHLAINNS BAR WITH SHAYNE AND SEAN

When Shayne and Sean first got in touch with me about their wedding in Clare, I was so excited - they were planning a laid back barn wedding with live Irish music. Shayne and Sean are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Bride and groom prep

I began the morning at Hazelwood Lodge, where the couple and their family were getting ready, and it was so chilled out because everyone was in a good mood.

The ceremony

The wedding took place Vaughan’s pub and was a gorgeous barn Ceremony. They had some beautiful readings. After the ceremony, they had a dramatic first kiss, and then we all got on the party bus to the reception.

The reception

The wedding reception took place at O'Lochlainns Bar, which is a Whiskey bar. It was so unique.

It was an overcast day, which didn't bother them at all. While the guests enjoyed the live Irish music, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our couples session is the pier.

During the reception, they had live music, which everyone loved. For dinner, they had a fancy meal in a gorgeous restaurant in Monks Ballyvaughan, and it was loved by all the guests. We decide to do final shots on the pier right beside the restaurant before I hit the road back to Dublin.
