Julia & Donovan - Elopements in Loughcrew Lodge 1

Julia & Donovan - Elopements in Loughcrew Lodge

Julia and Donovan came to Ireland to get married. Loughcrew Lodge is a stunning location for any wedding, but for the privacy of an elopement, it is just perfection. Elopement weddings are very special and I love being able to capture the emotion, often in amazing locations, like on the cliff, beach or as in this case, church ruins.

A lovely message from the couple:

"My husband and I were introduced to Johnny and his work through our wedding planner (Yvonne Cassidy). We are from the United States and decided we wanted to elope in Ireland. We were completely nervous about finding the right photographer for our ceremony. Once we saw Johnny’s work it spoke for itself. His photos were stunning, relaxed, candid, and the exact style we were looking for. When we first emailed him, he answered us right away and told us about the different packages he offered. We chose to do his pdf package, it fit our budget perfectly.

The day of our ceremony was the first time we met and instantly he made us both feel comfortable. I never imagined having so much fun taking these photos. He captured intimate shots as well as relaxed funnier ones that matched our personalities. It started raining towards the end of the ceremony and he was willing to endure the rain and take some of the most amazing photos for us.

Not long after our ceremony Johnny emailed us a link to our files. The photos were so easy to access and download. On top of that, they were beautifully done and captured our day perfectly! We could not be more thankful for him.

We would recommend Johnny to anyone!"

For Julia and Donovan:

IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields.
and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children’s children
May you be poor in misfortune,
rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
and may the hand of a friend always be near

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

As a tattoo artist Donovan has high standards when it comes to body art....and love is...letting Julia perform her first tattoo of a carrot on your leg. :) although the story behind this little tattoo is lovely. In Julia's own words..."When Donovan and I first started dating we got into a small argument (I’m not even sure what it was about anymore) and he drew me a picture of a rabbit holding a carrot that said: “I’m sorry I made you mad, you can have my carrot.” So for a few years after that, we joked and said one of us should get a rabbit and the other a carrot tattooed. Well, I just so happened to get a rabbit tattooed on my leg by a different artist. So I told Donovan he had to now get a carrot, which we decided should be done by me! It was my first and last tattoo I will ever do haha. But that little carrot has so much meaning to us. It makes us realize that even if we don’t always see eye to eye about things, we still love each other." So sweet Julia and Donovan!!.

Lough Tay & Dunbur - Wicklow Pre-Wedding Shoot 2

Lough Tay & Dunbur - Wicklow Pre-Wedding Shoot

I had a fantastic day out with a wonderful couple, shooting some relaxed pre-wedding portraits. there is nothing like the Irish countryside when the weather is right! We took advantage of the great weather and went to 2 beautiful areas: Lough Tay and Wicklow Head Lighthouse in Dunbur, Co.Wicklow. Gloria and Kevin travelled all the way from Hong Kong to Ireland and I had such great fun shooting with them. I love shooting outdoors and getting close to nature. Hope you the results .... Enjoy!

Château de Marsalès, Monpazier, France - Emma and Mark 3

Château de Marsalès, Monpazier, France - Emma and Mark

A FAB WEDDING IN SOUTH OF FRANCE

When Emma and Mark first got in touch with me about their wedding in South of France wedding in Monpazier, I was so excited – they were planning the most relaxed and romantic wedding with a religious ceremony, a live band as many beers as you like. Emma and Mark seemed like the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

The excitement before the wedding

I turned up at Château de Marsalès, where the couple was getting ready, and it was so chilled out, because everyone was in a good mood. Emma wore Maison Edith Bréhat and Mark wore a Devred suit and they looked so incredible. They had their first look right beside the House under beautiful trees.

The ceremony

The wedding took place at Église Saint Dominique in Monpazier, and was both joyous and moving. They had simple and classy decoration and flowers, which suited the magnificent church dating from the middle ages. After the ceremony a family friend from Brittany played traditional music as the couple left the church, and then everybody gathered in the main square to welcome the newlyweds.

The reception

The wedding reception took place at Château de Marsalès, which is a short distance from Monpazier. The Château, built in the 15thcentury, was recently restored and sits on a property of 80 hectares which includes a stud farm for pure Arabian horses.

It was a slightly overcast day, which added to the atmosphere of the venue and resulted in great light for photos and videos. While the guests discovered the interior of the château, they tasted local specialities such as foie gras, duck and sweet white wine. My favourite photo from the day is the shot of the couple in the courtyard of the property after the first look ...)

During the reception the couple were spoiled with touching and funny speeches, songs, and even surprise Irish and Breton music which was learned especially for the day from Emma’s father, his friend and brothers. After dinner it was on to the dancefloor where Emma and Mark opened the ball, and then Phil Good entertained in Style with a mixture of soul, funk and rock.

The couple

Emma and Mark met when they were 16 years old during a school exchange, and they never forgot each other and get back together 8 years ago They say if you’re planning a wedding, take your time, make sure the people you love are present and involved, and enjoy it!

Here’s their suppliers wedding!

Vaughan's Pub, County Clare - Shayne and Sean

RELAXED WEDDING IN VAUGHAN'S PUB AND O'LOCHLAINNS BAR WITH SHAYNE AND SEAN

When Shayne and Sean first got in touch with me about their wedding in Clare, I was so excited - they were planning a laid back barn wedding with live irish music. Shayne and Sean are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Bride and groom prep

I began the morning at Hazelwood Lodge, where the couple and their family were getting ready, and it was so chilled out, because everyone was in a good mood.

The ceremony

The wedding took place Vaughan’s pub, and was a gorgeous barn Ceremony. They had some beautiful readings. After the ceremony they had a dramatic first kiss, and then we all got on the party bus to the reception.

The reception

The wedding reception took place O'Lochlainns Bar, which is a Whiskey bar. It was so unique.

It was a overcast day, which didnt bother them at all. While the guests enjoyed the live Irish music, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our couples session is the pier.

During the reception they had live music, which everyone loved. For dinner they had a fancy meal in a gorgeous restaurant in Monks Ballyvaughan, and it was loved by all the guests. We decide to do a final shots on the pier right beside the restaurant before I hit the road back to Dublin.

The Set Theatre, Kilkenny - Stephanie and Colm 5

The Set Theatre, Kilkenny - Stephanie and Colm

It's good to be back at the Set Theatre. Stephanie and Colm got married last July at the lovely Langton House Hotel, which is a fancy venue in Kilkenny. It was a gorgeous day and the sun shone all day long!

A beautiful facebook review from the couple

Johnny recently did our wedding photography in July and was fantastic. We really couldn't have asked for more. Both our engagement and wedding photographs are everything we hoped for and more. We have had so many friends, family members and other supplier comment on Johnny's friendliness and professionalism on the day. He made everyone feel so at ease. The shots he captured are out of this world. Would absolutely recommend him (and have already done so) to everyone. Best decision we made. We have stunning photos to cherish forever!

Stephanie and Colm seemed like the fun people as we did our Pre-Wedding shoot at the Curragh in Kildare HERE and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

BLAIRSCOVE HOUSE – NÓRÍDE AND RAVI 7

BLAIRSCOVE HOUSE – NÓRÍDE AND RAVI

When Nóríde and Ravi first got in touch with me about their Blairscove House wedding in Cork, I was so thrilled – they were planning the most relaxed wedding with a live band. Nóríde and Ravi seemed like the nicest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

I began the morning at The River Lee Hotel, where the bride was getting ready, and it was really exciting because I had so much fun with them two at the Pre-Wedding in Dublin - see here. Nóríde wore Charlie Brear dress, and she looked so incredible.

The ceremony

The ceremony took place in the Honan Chapel, UCC in Cork. The ceremony area was really cosy, which was so gorgeous because it was such a gorgeous day. The ceremony began with a beautiful reading and finished with a dramatic first kiss. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of so much love and lots of laughter.

After the ceremony, we went down to the fields for the portrait photos, which was really chilled out. Then we went for couples portraits, which was so much fun. I got some beautiful couples photos in the field. The weather was fresh and sunny, which I loved.

The reception

The wedding reception took place Blairscove House, which is a Georgian House. It was wonderful.

It was a bright and sunny day, which was perfect. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our couples session is the one out in the field right beside the venue.

A beautiful facebook review from the couple

Choosing Johnny as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. From the moment we first met with him over coffee and saw samples of his work, a few things were crystal clear: (a) he was someone who really loved and cared about his work, (b) he was a relaxed and funny guy and (c) he was incredibly talented. He ticked all the boxes!

We’re so glad we did a pre-wedding shoot. I highly recommend it. We have some gorgeous photos of us from the place we fell in love. It also meant that on the wedding day when Johnny arrived, it felt like an old friend had just walked in and there was nothing to worry about.

Our wedding photos are more than we could have hoped for. We’ll treasure them for a lifetime and you can’t put a price on that gift. He captured some beautiful, natural moments and made us look better than we thought possible! So many friends and family have told us how great Johnny was and some thought he was an old friend of ours; a testament to Johnny’s relaxed, good-humoured nature.

I can’t recommend Johnny enough. He’s a kind, funny, talented guy who puts you at ease, captures moments beautifully and has the finished product to you in record time.

Thanks so much, Johnny for the stunning photos. You were such a special part of our day and we’ll be eternally grateful to you for everything.

Mount Druid Alternative Wedding - Clarissa + Robin 8

Mount Druid Alternative Wedding - Clarissa + Robin

It's good to be back at Mount Druid, where I got married last April. It's one of my fav venues to shoot a wedding, I was super excited to come back for yet another awesome Wedding! Clarissa and Robin got married last April at the awesome Mount Druid, which is a stunning venue in Mullingar. It was a gorgeous day and the sun even made an appearance!

The excitement before the wedding

Clarissa got ready Kindalin House, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. Clarissa then rode a fancy wedding car to get to the ceremony. Robin got ready on a Double Decker Bus. He travelled to the ceremony on foot.

The ceremony

The ceremony was a beautiful service in an awesome Tin Chapel.

The reception

The reception was in the barn at the venue. They chose Mount Druid because it’s where they always wanted to have their wedding and they just fell in love with it. It was a beautiful relaxing wedding, which I love about it. I LOVE shooting Mount Druid weddings because the grounds are so unusual.

Nóríde + Ravi 9

Nóríde + Ravi

Another great couple shoots in Dublin this time with the lovely Nòrìde & Ravi last November. We went for a nice cold walk around the Dublin River Liffey. Nóríde is from Cork, Ireland and Ravi is from India and he grew up in the US.

These guys got engaged on the banks of the Seine in Paris, in what I am sure was a super romantic proposal, but looking at these photos, the River Liffey and Dublin has some romance to offer too, don’t you think?

Caragh and Declan 10

Caragh and Declan

It was a bright but cold day in Killiney Hill, Dublin with Caragh and Declan last February. We got through the shoot dry but as we were finishing up and heading back to the car it started lashing…..typical Irish weather!!

I love Killiney Hill as a location for this type of photoshoot.

‘Together, whatever the weather.’

Sandy + Shekman - Elopements in Dublin City 11

Sandy + Shekman - Elopements in Dublin City

It was a fab sunny but cold day in November of 2017 with the lovely couple, Sandy and Shekman.

They decided to keep things simple with a small ceremony and invited only immediate family to the reception and a lovely stroll around Dublin.

I hope the love and happiness you felt on that day shine through the years.

THE FALLON & BYRNE – JESSICA AND CONOR 12

THE FALLON & BYRNE – JESSICA AND CONOR

A FAB WEDDING VENUE IN THE FALLON & BYRNE, DUBLIN

When Jessica and CousinConor first got in touch with me about their wedding in the Fallon & Byrne, Dublin, I was so excited – they were planning the most relaxed wedding with a humanist ceremony. Jessica and Conor seemed like the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

I turned up at the Fallon & Byrne, where the boys were relaxing before the big event, and it was so chilled out.

The ceremony

The wedding took place upstairs in the Fallon & Byrne, and was a gorgeous humanist ceremony. They had personal vows they wrote themselves, which was so beautiful. After the ceremony, there was a big cheer from everyone, and then we went and did some beautiful portraits at the Dublin Castle ground near the Fallon & Byrne.

After the ceremony

It was a sunny day, which was what the couple had hoped for. While the guests enjoyed their drinks, we wandered around the city doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our wander around the city is the Dublin Castle.

Here’s their beautiful wedding!
